This Privacy Policy describes how data is processed in the mAPRS application mAPRS for Android, identified by the package pl.sq9nfi.maprs.

mAPRS is an application intended for amateur-radio operators and APRS users. Its primary function is to determine the device's current position and send APRS information to the APRS-IS.

Location data
mAPRS uses the device's location data to provide its primary function.
Depending on the permissions granted by the user, the application may access the device's precise or approximate location. Location data may include, among other things, geographic coordinates, measurement accuracy, altitude, speed, and direction of travel, if this information is available from the Android system.
This data is used to determine the user's current position, identify movement conditions, and prepare appropriate APRS frames.
Once tracking has been started by the user, the application may continue to use location data when its main screen is not currently visible. This takes place as part of an active Android location service required for the continuous operation of APRS features.
The user may stop transmission at any time from within the application and change or revoke the application's location permissions in the Android system settings.

Data transmitted to APRS-IS
Once transmission is started, the application sends the prepared frames directly to the APRS-IS.
Depending on the configuration and current operating mode, an APRS frame may contain, among other things, the user's callsign, SSID identifier, geographic coordinates, APRS symbol, comment, movement information, and other data permitted by the APRS protocol and configured in the application.
APRS-IS is a public, international network supporting the APRS system. Data sent to APRS-IS should be treated as public. It may be received, forwarded, displayed, and archived by independent APRS servers, websites, APRS infrastructure operators, iGate stations, and other network users.
Packets uploaded to APRS-IS may also be forwarded to the radio portion of the APRS network. Official APRS-IS documentation indicates that packets entering this network should be treated as capable of being forwarded to the radio network.
External services using APRS-IS may retain data history even after transmission has ended. The public nature of APRS-IS and the ability of independent services to archive positions are characteristics of this network and remain outside the control of the mAPRS developer.
The user should enable APRS transmission only when they accept that the transmitted information will be made public.

Callsign and APRS-IS access code
To use APRS-IS transmission, the user provides their callsign and the required APRS-IS access code. This data is used to establish a connection to the APRS-IS server and authorize transmission. mAPRS does not intentionally include the APRS-IS code in the public content of position frames. It is used to log in to the APRS-IS server. mAPRS does not operate its own user-account system and does not require users to register an account with the application developer.

Data and settings stored on the device
Application settings may be stored locally in the device's memory. They may include, among other things, the callsign, APRS-IS access code, operating-mode settings, APRS symbol and comment configuration, and other preferences required for the application to function.
This data remains on the user's device, except for information necessary to establish a connection to APRS-IS or deliberately sent in APRS frames.
mAPRS does not use the developer's own server to create a centralized history of users' locations.

Advertising, analytics, and profiling
mAPRS contains no advertising.
The application does not use location data to create advertising profiles of users or to target advertisements.
mAPRS does not have its own analytics system for tracking user behavior for marketing purposes and does not sell user data to advertisers or data brokers.
The application is distributed through Google Play. Google may independently process data relating to installation, security, the device, and use of Google Play in accordance with its own privacy policies. This process is independent of mAPRS.

Sharing data with other entities
mAPRS does not provide user data to the developer for sale, advertising, or profiling.
APRS data deliberately sent by the user is, however, transmitted to the APRS-IS infrastructure. Once sent, it may be received and processed by independent operators and services using the public APRS network.
The mAPRS developer does not control the storage, further disclosure, or deletion policies applied by independent APRS servers and services.

Data retention and deletion
Configuration data stored locally by mAPRS remains on the device until it is changed, the application's data is cleared, or the application is uninstalled.
The user may delete local mAPRS data using the Android system functions for clearing application data or by uninstalling mAPRS.
The developer does not maintain a centralized database of position history transmitted through mAPRS.
The mAPRS developer may be unable to delete data previously sent to the public APRS-IS infrastructure because it may be stored by independent servers, radio receivers, or archiving services. APRS documentation indicates that once transmitted, data may remain available in external archives even after transmission has ended.

Data security
mAPRS limits data processing to information necessary to provide the application's functions. Application configuration data is stored locally on the device using mechanisms provided by the Android system.
Due to the public nature of APRS and APRS-IS, the application cannot guarantee the confidentiality of information deliberately sent to this network. Users should not include in comments or other APRS fields any information they do not wish to disclose publicly.

System permissions
mAPRS may require system permissions relating, among other things, to location access, operation of the location service, Internet access, network-status checks, and displaying notifications. Permissions are used only to the extent necessary for the application to function. Users can manage granted permissions in the Android system settings.

User accounts
mAPRS does not offer user-account creation and does not maintain its own account database. Consequently, the application has no separate procedure for deleting an mAPRS account. Data associated with an APRS callsign and transmission to APRS-IS relates to the external APRS system and does not constitute an account created with the mAPRS developer.

Children
mAPRS is not directed at children. The application is intended primarily for amateur-radio operators and people who knowingly use the APRS network. Users should understand that transmitting a position to APRS-IS makes location information public.

Changes to the Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated as the application's functionality, Google Play requirements, the Android system, or the way it cooperates with external APRS infrastructure changes. The current version of the Privacy Policy will be published at the same publicly accessible web address.
The date of the latest update will be indicated at the beginning of the document.
