The team consists of Rolando 9A3MR, who serves as team leader, Zrinko DK8ZZ/YT3ZZ, Mladen 9A2NA, Frane 9A3CJY, Kristijan 9A4WY and Livio 9A7Y. The operators are planning activity on all HF bands and on 6 metres, using CW, SSB and FT8.
The expedition’s base will be Dolphin View Beach on the northeastern coast of Guadalcanal Island, in locator QI90VQ. The team will have three bungalows at its disposal, one of which will be used as the radio room. Approximately 100 metres of shoreline should allow the antenna systems to be set up directly beside the ocean. Simultaneous operation of three stations.
As part of the preparations, 9A3MR and DK8ZZ tested two multiband antennas on the Adriatic coast VDA. Following the tests, the team decided to take two such systems for the 20- to 10-metre bands. At the end of August, ACOM power amplifiers prepared for the expedition also arrived in Croatia.
The organisers announced free QSL cards via the bureau, as well as free confirmations via LoTW after six months from the end of the expedition. A direct QSL card combined with a fast LoTW confirmation will cost €5. The team plans to donate part of the funds raised to the Catholic mission in Boma.
