The part that is particularly interesting for radio amateurs is JOTA – Jamboree on the Air. Scouts use amateur radio stations and, with the support of licensed operators, can communicate with Scouts in other countries. The Polish ZHP website emphasizes that setting up such a station requires cooperation with a radio amateur holding the appropriate authorization.
The second part of the event is JOTI – Jamboree on the Internet, featuring online conversations, videoconferences, chats, and other activities prepared on the official platform. The event is open not only to Scouts – the organizers state that people from outside the Scouting movement may also participate.
Registration for the 2026 edition is now open. The official JOTA-JOTI platform also provides a resource center, guides, and information helpful for preparing a local station. For participants under 13, registration must be completed by a parent or guardian, who should also supervise the child’s participation in the event.
For amateur radio clubs, JOTA-JOTI is an opportunity to show young people what real radio communication is like. Cooperation between a local club and a Scout troop or district makes it possible to create a station where participants can learn the principles of operating on the air and try to make an international QSO under an operator’s supervision.
