The history of Polish railways meets amateur radio. A special “100th Anniversary of PKP” award event runs through the end of September, during which six special event stations can be worked on the bands and a commemorative award can be earned.

From 1 to 30 September 2026 a nationwide award event held to mark the anniversary the 100th anniversary of the Polish State Railways. The event is organized by Dobrzycki Amateur Radio Club SP3PDO together with members of the club SP FIRAC.

During the event, six special event stations will be active on the bands: SP100PKP, SQ100PKP, HF100PKP, SN100PKP, SO100PKP and 3Z100PKP. Contacts can be made on the HF bands from 160 to 10 meters using SSB, CW and digital modes, including FT8, FT4, RTTY and PSK.

The scoring system gives particular emphasis to telegraphy. A CW contact is worth 5 points, SSB – 3 points, while DIGI – 1 point. Four award levels are available: basic from 100 points, bronze from 200, silver from 300, and gold after collecting 400 points.

The award and electronic QSL cards will be available via the Hamaward.cloud. The event is part of the wider celebrations of the anniversary of the Polish State Railways – the PKP enterprise was established by a regulation dated 24 September 1926, and 2026 has been designated the Year of Polish Railways.

This is an interesting opportunity both for collectors of special event callsigns and for operators interested in earning awards. There is still plenty of time before the event ends, so it is worth keeping an eye out for the commemorative callsigns on the bands.
