From April 15 to September 30, 2024, amateur radio operators will have the opportunity to make contacts with the SN20UE special event station (via SP6ZJP). This initiative commemorates the 20th anniversary of Poland’s accession to the European Union and is carried out as part of a public task co-financed by the Marshal’s Office of the Opole Voivodeship.
The SN20UE station will operate on various bands, from HF (starting at 160 m) through VHF/UHF (up to 70 cm), using modes such as CW, SSB, RTTY, FT4, and FT8. This means that every amateur radio operator will find something of interest and be able to make contacts using their preferred mode.
Of particular interest is the fact that SN20UE will often transmit directly from the Military Museum in Włodzienin, located in the Opole Voivodeship. This will most often take place on Sundays, providing an additional attraction for those who would like to combine their amateur radio hobby with a visit to an interesting location. What is more, the museum is currently working on a modern amateur radio station equipped with directional antennas, which will undoubtedly attract the attention of many enthusiasts.
Poland’s accession to the European Union on May 1, 2004, was a historic moment that brought Poland many economic and social benefits. Joining the European community opened up new opportunities for cooperation, infrastructure development, and investment. For amateur radio operators, it also meant greater opportunities to cooperate with colleagues from other EU countries, exchange experience, and participate in international amateur radio events.
The SN20UE station provides an excellent opportunity to celebrate and commemorate this important moment in Poland’s history by making contacts with amateur radio operators from across Europe. We encourage everyone to take an active part and make contacts with the SN20UE special event station.
