Another field expedition by members of the Radio Amateurs’ Club SP1KZE to Zwierzyniec Hill went down in history. The team set up a field station before the start of the contest IARU Region 1 145 MHz Contest, setting up the campsite and antenna systems despite the changeable weather. Colleagues from Germany also helped – Juergen SO1NE and Joshua DO7JML.

Conditions on the 2-meter band proved challenging. According to the club’s report, propagation was not conducive to long-distance contacts, so the operators had to search particularly carefully for weaker signals. Ultimately, the log SP1KZE contained more than 90 QSOs. The contacts made included stations from Hungary, France, and Croatia.

The field contest was also an opportunity to meet in person. The station SP1KZE was visited by Janusz SP1TMN, president of the PZK West Pomeranian Regional Branch, as well as Sławek SP1SZ from the SP1PMS club.

The expedition organizers also thanked the Chojna Forest District for its help and support in preparing the trip. The report published by the PZK West Pomeranian Regional Branch shows the field side of amateur radio, where, alongside the contest result itself, station setup, teamwork, and the opportunity to meet other operators are all important.
