In 2026, it will be 100 years since the Yagi-Uda antenna concept was developed, which remains one of the basic solutions used by radio amateurs for directional communications. For this occasion Contest University has prepared a special presentation „The Yagi Turns 100”. Information about the event appeared in the edition of the ARRL Contest Update published on September 16.

The lecture will be delivered by Greg Ordy W8WWV. The presentation will cover the history of the antenna, its development, and the technical aspects of a solution that, over the course of a century, has found applications both in amateur radio and in professional radio communications systems.

The event will take place on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 16:00 UTC. Participation is free and, according to Contest University, does not require prior registration. Access to the broadcast will be provided via the Mercer County Amateur Radio Club website W3LIF.

The organizers also announce a live question-and-answer session. Cory will handle the event W3JL, while Scott N3RA and Tim K3LR will relay questions submitted by participants to the presenter. The entire event will be recorded, and a recording of the presentation is expected to be posted on the Contest University website later.
