The meeting will focus on modern construction and prototyping in amateur radio. Wardill is expected to discuss opportunities that have become available to individual builders in recent years: from surface-mount components and ordering professionally manufactured PCBs, through 3D-printed enclosures, to test equipment that until relatively recently was available mainly to large companies and laboratories.
The presentation will not be limited to the equipment itself. The presenter will also offer advice on choosing suppliers, obtaining the necessary tools, and seeking assistance with projects that might previously have seemed too complex to complete at home. At RSGB, Tom Wardill also works on building links between the amateur-radio community and makerspace and hackspace communities.
